Just a quick post to say I made it to Hong Kong!
The flight felt very long, but it was comfortable. We had a medical emergency so I thought we may have to land at Moscow to take the person to hospital, but they were ok. (I prayed, but wondered if I should have held back, as landing in Moscow would have been fun).
Yuen Long (the town I’m staying in) is fab, really untouristy, so it feels like real life hk if that makes sense. People keep staring at me because a lot of them have never seen blonde hair before. It’s just like I imagined Asia would look like – busy, teeming with people, noisy and crowded. It’s a very ‘alive’ place, if that makes sense.
Last night we went to a supermarket, I love going food shopping in foreign counties, just to see the different brands, and what people eat everyday here. It was bright and bustling and good fun.
When we got back I tried some hk specialities – chinese tea (which was ok, just tasted of flowers), powdered plums (which weren’t ok, tasted like sour sherbet). I avoided the seaweed and rice biscuit options.
Today we are going to a market and then to a shopping centre place. The weather is dry and a bit overcast, about 14 degrees, so that’s not bad. Yestertday when we landed it was really sunny, but that made it all hazy.
Thanks to everyone who prayed I’d make it safely
